The Brownlow Family
George Washington Brownlow (1814-c.1890)

Home

George Washington "Wash" Brownlow was born in Pendleton District, South Carolina, in about 1814. He was the son of James and Rebecca Cross Brownlow. According to family lore George moved, along with his brother William, to south Georgia in the 1830's. About 1836 he married Elizabeth "Eliza". Her maiden name is currently unknown.
By 1840 he had moved to north Georgia, Chattooga County, near his father. By 1850 he was living in Floyd County, Georgia. In the 1850's he moved his family to Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia. This is where he lived, presumably, until his death between 1880 and 1900.
I have not been to Calhoun to search through records and there is probably a good bit more information to be found.
