Obediah J. Brownlow

Obediah J. (Obed) Brownlow was born in about 1836 in Franklin County, Georgia. He was the son of John A. and Susan Wimpy Brownlow. He moved, along with his family, in the 1840's, to Forsyth County, Georgia, where he married Lucinda Guthrie on March 22, 1854. On January 9, 1863, he joined Co. D, 4th Tennessee Cavalry, US. He was the only one of his immediate family to fight for the North, and was also the only one to perish during that conflict. He died in a hospital in Tennessee on February 15, 1865, from wounds received in battle. Obed and Lucinda had 2 children: Joseph William and Nancy C. Brownlow
