Rhoda Judson Brownlow


Rhoda Judson "Aunt Jud" Brownlow was born in Bartow County, Georgia, on August 22, 1883. She was the daughter of James Madison and Sarah Phillips Brownlow. She never married and lived with her parents until her death. She took care of the house and watched after the children. She is said to have been a very good cook and made the best turnip green and fried green onions around. She also ran a store, along with her brother Virgil, that was located beside their house in Longstation, Polk County, Georgia. She was much loved by her nieces and nephews. She died on March 17, 1944, in her sleep and was buried at Prospect Church Cemetery, Polk County, Georgia.
